Apple figured out how to prevent the dropping of AirPods
Apple can begin production of fixatives for AirPods, thanks to which the headphones will be denser to sit in the ears. This is indicated by a new patent issued to the company’s engineers by the US Patent and Trademark Office. Development is a simple “struts” made of plastic material, which will be very useful for athletes and fans of outdoor activities.
Unlike the latches produced by Chinese manufacturers, Apple’s solution – at least on the drawings – looks more thoughtful. So, the brand accessory for all its simplicity will promote air circulation due to hollow “struts”. Thus, it will be possible to prevent the buildup of pressure in the speakers, thereby improving the sound quality and strengthening the bass.
Given the cheapness of the production of this kind of accessory, it is possible to assume that Apple will supply it along with AirPods one of the next generation. In any case, this is how the manufacturer arrives with wireless BeatsX headphones, supplementing the standard package with similar clips. At the same time in retail, BeatsX is even cheaper than AirPods.
AirPods will learn to monitor our health
This week, the US Patent Office approved a new Apple patent relating to health and fitness. The request was filed in late October 2017, which apparently indicates that the company is actively working on a new product. It’s possible that we are talking about AirPods 2.
The document describes a wireless headphone model that can measure the owner’s biological performance, such as body temperature, fatigue, and heart rate. Also, it is indicated exactly how the scanning will take place – as soon as the earpiece contacts the ear, special sensors measure all biometric parameters.
There is every reason to believe that the updated AirPods will have a photoplethysmogram (PPG) sensor, which already appears in Apple Watch. This technology allows you to determine the frequency of the heart rate by recording the blood flow using an infrared or light source.

However, the capabilities of the new headphones will to some extent even surpass the Apple Watch – there are a lot of capillaries in the ears, so you can not only measure the frequency of breathing and blood volume but even the level of stress. Despite the fact that the new patent Apple describes in detail the capabilities of the new wireless headphones, Cupertino has not yet released any data regarding the timing of their mass production.
